Electrical Safety Inspection

Occasionally, due to building and code violations or to the findings on the Certificate of Use report, the utility company (Flordia Power & Light or Homestead Utilities) will require a safety inspection to be completed before power can be connected at a property.  A licensed electrician must pull a permit and bring the property up to code.  A county inspector must approve the work and sign off on the permit before the electric can be ordered on.  If the property has issues with illegal additions, most likely the county will not be able to approve the permit because the property would not be considered “in compliance” unless the entire illegal structure was brought into compliance.
